- Shopper/cooks: Develop menu, shop within budget, cook meal - 12 Noon-5:30 pm
- Prep/set-up: Prepare meal and set up hall - 2 pm-3:30 pm
- Servers: Greet community members, serve meal - 4 pm-7 pm
- Clean-up: Clean up after meal - 5:30 pm-7 pm
Job duties include sorting food, stocking shelves and fundraising during food drives. Positions available to serve clients on Tuesdays. Other duties as assigned.

S.H.I.F.T. Fundraising Committe and Event Volunteers
This committee is a team of volunteers focused on the planning, developing and execution of key fundraising events to support the operational costs of S.H.I.F.T. Working alongside our Donor Relations & Stewardship Officer and a member of our Board of Directors, this committee plays an important role in ensuring the organization has adequate funds for operations.
If you have sales/fundraising experience and a passion for this community, we would love you to join us! We are a fun group, promise!
Time commitments will vary depending on the time of year and the specific event. You don’t need to commit to being part of every fundraising event but we do ask that you have a minimum of 4 hours a month to give to this committee and the responsibilities that come with it.
Coldest Night of the Year - Event Volunteer - Open December through February annually
Volunteers are a large part of the success of our annual CNOY event!
Every year between October and the end of February we look for volunteers to join us in having a blast to raise much needed funds and awareness for S.H.I.F.T.
There are lots of fun volunteer roles to choose from in the Coldest Night of the Year! Roles include: Check-In Crew, Greeters, Route Marshalls, Food Team, Rest Stop Hosts, Send-Off/Welcome Back Crew, and more! Many of our roles are needed for most of the day, while others have shorter timeframes.

After you register to volunteer you'll receive a confirmation email outlining all of the information you've provided to us. Then, expect to hear directly from the Event Volunteer Leader, who will give you more details on volunteering.
Two sites: Camphill Nottawasaga, near Angus and Camphill Sophia Creek in Barrie.
Camphill Sophia Creek (Barrie)
- work in the mosaic studio
- help with meal preparation in the Cafe
- assist with recreational activities, music sessions and cultural outings, Bingo events and other special events such as Fall Fairs
Camphill Nottawasaga (Angus)
- help with programs in woodworking, pottery, candlemaking, and bakery/meal preparation
- can be involved in maple syrup production, working in the vegetable gardens and caring for livestock (Highland cows horses and goats)
Both locations need volunteers to help with set-up, cash management and take-down at our Farmers Markets

The Pack Day Leader assists the Barrie Good Food Box Coordinator at the Barrie Free Methodist Church on the second Wednesday of every month.
Arrive at the church at 9 am on the second Wednesday of every month
Assit with greeting volunteers and directing them to set up the pack stations
Assit with overseeing the unloading of the truck when it arrives
Assit with overseeing the packing of the food
Help maintain enthusiasm among volunteers
We are looking for volunteers to assist with "pack day" on the second Wednesday of the month between 9 am-6 pm at the Barrie Free Methodist Church (290 Cundles Rd E).
Volunteers unload the food from the truck, pack the boxes, greet people and give boxes to participants when they arrive to pick up, and general cleanup duties.
We are also looking for volunteer drivers to deliver food to schools and "pay-it-forward" recipients.
Help to deliver meals to residents in your community for the meals on wheels program.
The Environment Network has two large community gardens that are used to feed our community. If you would like to be part of helping manage our gardens please reach out. We are looking for help from May - October. Duties include regular watering and weeding. Schedule is very flexible. Other opportunities may arise such as helping with special events.
