Description and Service Details

Description (Service) Brings carefully selected dogs and their humans to people in need of companionship at places such as hospitals, long-term care homes, colleges/universities. Therapeutic benefits help individuals and their caregivers.

Paws 4 Stories program helps children build confidence as they learn to read. The non-judgemental presence of the dog allows children to read without interruption, improving reading skills and self-esteem.

Areas Served Simcoe County ; York County
Eligibility Dogs must be well-behaved, friendly and outgoing. They must be healthy and up to date with all vaccinations and well groomed before each visit.

Handlers should be ready to commit to at least a one-hour visit at the same facility weekly and are required to attend an orientation session before they are considered for the program.
