Description and Service Details

Description (Service) National, non-partisan, nonprofit organization committed to advocating for people as they age, in matters affecting their rights, well being and welfare
  • members eligible for a range of products, services, and group rates such as:
    • car, home, and health insurance discounts including dental as well as travel and accommodation discounts
  • local Chapter holds ten meetings a year
  • provides trips for social and educational reasons
  • holds special events such as the Be Green Show and an annual theatre day
  • runs a dart league and yoga classes
  • initiated Seniors & Accessibility Advisory Committee for the City of Barrie, comprised of representatives from CARP, 55 + Clubs, 4 non-profit organizations and 4 Seniors
  • initiated a Senior Housing Committee, working towards solutions for future housing shortages, for more information call Gwen Kavanagh at 705-828-2743

Seniors Community Fund
  • assists low-income Seniors 65 yrs and older in Barrie and surrounding area by providing financial assistance from $100-$500 per application
  • financial assistance is provided to pay for basic necessities (such as, but not limited to: rent, food, medical transportation, clothing, delivered meals, personal needs, veterinary services etc.)
  • applications can be submitted at any time, see Seniors Community Fund, call or email for more information

Third Wed of each month, doors open at 1:30 pm for 2 pm meetings, and 6:30 pm for 7 pm meetings
