Description and Service Details

Description (Service) Experienced gardeners are trained volunteers available to assist the general public with their gardening needs
  • Purpose is to teach people more about growing plants and to provide information and technical assistance in the areas of horticulture and gardening, activities include:
    • gardening advice by email or at clinics at shopping malls, garden centers, public gardens, libraries, fairs
    • educational sessions with guest speakers, workshops or demonstrations
    • guest speakers provided upon request - see website for topics
    • development of horticultural programs for retirement homes, schools, youth groups and other organizations
Master Gardeners are not "gardeners for hire"
Hours Meetings: third Tue of specified months, (winter via Zoom), check website for dates/times
Dates:Feb, Mar, Apr, May, June, Sep, Oct, Nov
Areas Served Simcoe County
Boundaries Communities of Blue Mountain, Collingwood, Stayner and Creemore, Wasaga Beach, across to Elmvale, Midland, Washago, Orillia, Barrie, Innisfil, Alliston, Bradford and Tottenham, and all points in-between
Eligibility
  • Anyone interested may access the services provided by the Master Gardeners
  • for people interested in becoming a Master Gardener, educational courses are available
