Simcoe County Branch of the Ontario Geneaological Society

  • holds workshops to teach people how to research and organize their family history project
  • hosts guest speakers at their monthly meetings, held virtually by Zoom and in-person, see website for details
  • provides information on church and cemetery records, local histories
  • sends newsletters to Branch members
  • Simcoe County Branch, OGS library holdings are located at the downtown Branch of the Barrie Public Library and are available to the general public for use in the library during regular hours

Fees Membership - No cost to attend monthly meetings * the hope after attending a few meetings is that those interested will be motivated to take out a membership ;
  • The Branch welcomes everyone to their monthly meetings, do not have to be a member to attend, however, member support helps the Branch continue their efforts to provide research materials, speakers and workshops to the people of Simcoe County
  • Branch membership is available through the Ontario Genealogical Society
Volunteer Description
  • Volunteer opportunities for students are available to help shelve material in the library collection housed at the Barrie Public Library.
  • Always looking for interested persons to help with a variety of Branch activities
