Description and Service Details

Description (Service) Works with the community to improve water quality and stream habitat along local waterways

Volunteers of all ages and sectors of the community are engaged to protect and promote a healthy natural environment

Projects include planting native trees and shrubs, mulching and monitoring to stabilizing eroding banks

Location and project determined by committee made of representatives from municipal councils, conservation authorities, government ministries, industry, schools, clubs and local residents

Work party days are held throughout the year

Donations of time, labour, materials, sponsorship, currency or simply providing refreshments to volunteers are welcome

Volunteer Description Community volunteers are invited to commit about three hours of their time at project 'work party days' to help with a range of activities from planting native trees and shrubs, mulching and monitoring to bio engineering techniques for stabilizing eroding banks. Interested residents are invited to serve on the committee. Families, individuals and groups are encouraged to help with stream projects. Students can earn community hours.
