| Description | Each evening a team of volunteers provides guests with a warm welcome, a hot meal between 6 pm-7:30 pm, a sleeping mat in a safe, respectful overnight accommodation during the winter months and breakfast prior to departure at 7:30 am the following morning Barrie Out of the Cold Board of Directors was formed in 2004, when BOOTC became incorporated * it is comprised of members of the community For the 2012/13 season the program will operate as follows * Monday - St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 47 Owen St * Tuesday - Bethel Community Church, 128 St Vincent St * Wednesday - St Mary's Church, 65 Amelia St * Thursday - Barrie Free Methodist Church, 290 Cundles Rd E * Friday - Central United Church, 54 Ross St * Saturday and Sunday - Collier Street United Church, 112 Collier St Barrie Out of the Cold guests may obtain shelter and coffee at the David Busby Street Centre Monday to Friday from 8 am-9 am Community Meals * During the 2012/13 season, people who have shelter but need food assistance can receive a community meal at the Salvation Army's Bayside Mission Centre located at 16 Bayfield St * community meals are available starting at 6 pm | |||

| VOLUNTEER_DESC | * each evening a team of volunteers provide a hot dinner, a sleeping mat, a light breakfast and a warm welcome to homeless people in need * volunteers are organized into shifts 5 pm-8 pm, 8 pm-11 pm, 11 pm-6 am, and 6 am-8 am * volunteer recruitment begins in September prior to the start of each season * volunteers are required to serve 1 shift per night, 1 night per 4 weeks, six nights commitment between November and April * volunteers are also needed to be Team Leaders, to be meal makers and to deliver and pick up blankets at RVH * meal makers donate a main course, dessert or salad of 8-10 servings on specific dates * blanket delivery and pick up is required for one hour or less from 7 am-8 am Please refer to www.barrieoutofthecold.org for a listing of current vacancies or email: volunteer@barrieoutofthecold.org | |||
